You can play your part in Europe’s journey towards carbon neutrality by working with 15 designers and energy professionals from across Europe to find solutions that enable citizens to reduce their energy consumption.
Be part of the ECO2 Design Jam to help create sustainability-oriented solutions to reducing energy use (in the home). At this workshop, you’ll get to meet and work with designers from across Europe and professionals from the energy field from all over Europe.
As a society, we depend heavily on energy. We consume a lot for the comfort of our homes and to run our appliances and machines. Whether it is to watch TV and surf the web, to cook and wash, to light and heat. We consume a lot. We need energy. Yet we know that energy is not infinite. Nor is it neutral for the planet. We know that we need to transform our production and consumption patterns. And of course, this has to be done at both the global and the local level, at the societal and the individual level.
At the household level, this may mean changing some old, over-consuming appliances, insulating your home or changing your light bulbs, but it also means changing our habits and behaviours. How can we be more reasonable consumers? How could we adapt our behaviours towards more responsible and sustainable uses of energy? We know that this is the hardest part.
In ECO2, we seek to find creative ways to provide solutions to users. We believe that building user-friendly and user-centric solutions requires a lot of creativity and design skills. This is why we are very pleased to announce the ECO2 Design Jam!
Do you have design skills? Do you want to develop sustainable solutions that meet the needs of its users? Would you like to participate in a European research project and see what it is? This is an opportunity for you to meet other designers from all over Europe, meet professionals and researchers in the field of energy, participate in a European research project and gain experience.
During this design jam you will work in teams together with other designers from all over Europe in English. Therefore, you need to have a good level of English as this will be the only working language during the Design Jam. If you do not feel confident about discussing for 3 days in English with your peers about all kind of concepts, this will not be ideal nor comfortable for you, for the others, or for us.
We are looking for 15 designers (students are also welcome) coming from diverse fields of design: interaction, UX, service, product, graphics, etc.
